We do not have a formal dress code for any of our events. We want everyone to wear what they'd like.
We understand some of you may be unfamiliar with Pakistani weddings, colours worn at certain events and where to purchase Pakistani attire. Please note, you are not required to wear Pakistani clothes, although we would love it if you did!
For those of you who intend to wear Pakistani attire, below you'll find some guidance on the colours, styles and places to locate some clothes in Calgary, the GTA and online!
Our Nikkah is at a mosque. For this reason we ask everyone dress in modest attire, with their arms and legs covered. A hijab or head covering is not necessary or required.
Mehndi's are intended to be bright, fun and colourful events. Often people dress in colourful clothes for mehndi and opt for bright pinks, orange, green, yellow. This is the day to wear your brightest most fun outfit!
This is the infamous red dress event!! This is our last event, sort of like a finale. You are free to wear any colour you'd like on this day. Women often opt to wear their fanciest outfit on this day and dark, deeper colours or silver and pastels. Men tend to wear suits or traditional pakistani attire such as vest or shalwar kameez!
In Calgary there are numerous South Asian boutiques in the North East. You can also find various small sellers on Facebook Marketplace! For mens clothing consider visiting Junaid Jamshed located at Unit1, 2010 30 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T2E 7K9. Junaid Jamshed also has a large collection of women's clothing!
In the GTA, there are several options. We highly recommend you check out Kohinoor, they have several locations across the GTA and offer a wide variety of styles. There is also a Kohinoor located in the Ridgeway Plaza. You may also opt to go to any other local boutique in the GTA.
We understand shopping in person may be overwhelming and not possible for all of you. You can order from most Pakistani brands online, however, many of them take months to deliver. If you are interested in purchasing online, we recommend you order from www.laam.pk or www.baroque.com.pk Laam is a one stop shop and sells various Pakistani brands. Laam also offer free delivery and no customs over $135! On Laam we recommend the brands Haseens and Malhaar.
We also recommend www.baroque.com.pk . Baroque is slightly more expensive and has higher delivery and customs.
Note, be sure to check the sizing charts for each items as sizing differs across brands and articles of clothing.
